MEANING IN THE WEAVE
The Elephant motif symbolizes great strength and keeps illness and injury away. The Human Ancestor Figure, depicted with arms held high, rides on the elephant’s back. The Magical Swan or HONG, a symbol of beauty, roosts nearby. Check out more symbology here.
WEAVER’S NOTES
The Elephant & Spirit Rider Runner has been woven for you by Mrs Yothla of the Taileu Tribe. She used the chock or tapestry weave method, which dates back to 800 AD. The chock method allows the weaver to use many colors; however, this design is not reversible. Variations in the weave are part of the handmade vibe. Natural dyes will patina over time.
CARE
To preserve colors, wash in cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent. Do not bleach. Pre-treat stains as they arise. Line dry or dry flat for a softly rumpled look. Iron while damp if desired.
