MEANING IN THE WEAVE
PHII NYAK, The Giant Spirit, is the protector of the home. This motif is traditionally featured on door curtains where the Phii Nyak stands guard against intruding spirits. Learn more about symbology here.
WEAVER’S NOTES
The Giant Spirit Runner was woven for you by Mrs Khamdeng of the Taileu Tribe, using the chock method, which dates back to 800 AD. The chock method allows the weaver to use many colors; however, this design is not reversible. Variations in the weave are part of the handmade vibe. Each textile is unique. Natural dyes will patina over time.
CARE
To preserve colors, wash in cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent. Do not bleach. Pre-treat stains as they arise. Line dry or dry flat for a softly rumpled look. Iron while damp if desired.
