MEANING IN THE WEAVE
Stripe motifs are symbols for RAINBOWS and are commonly found in waistbands and the hems of tube skirts worn by women and shamans. Geometric shapes reflect patterns found in nature and traditionally were featured on clothes woven for men. Learn more about symbology here.
WEAVER’S NOTES
This handwoven textile is made of handspun and naturally dyed cotton yarns grown in the Houaphan Province of Laos. It has been woven for you by Ms. Khamsone of the Taileu Tribe In the KHIT method. Textiles woven in the KHIT method are reversible.
Slight differences in color, pattern and yarn add to the beauty of this artisan made textile. Natural dyes will patina over time.
CARE
Wash in cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent. Do not bleach. Line dry for a softly rumpled look. Iron while damp.
