MEANING IN THE WEAVE
The pattern represents STRENGTH & BEAUTY. The SIHO or elephant motif symbolizes great strength and keeps illness and injury away. Riding on its back is the SPIRIT RIDER or KHON BUHAAN, a Human Ancestor Figure standing with arms held high. In their rituals, Shamans travel to the afterlife to seek counsel from the ancestors. HONG, the Magical Swan and a symbol of beauty, roosts nearby.
WEAVER’S NOTES
This beautiful textile has been handwoven for you by Ms. Chanthy and Ms. Khongkham of the Taileu Tribe in the traditional “chock” or tapestry method. The chock method allows the weaver to use many colors, but this design is not reversible.
CARE
To preserve colors, wash in cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent. Do not bleach. Pre-treat stains as they arise. Line dry or dry flat for a softly rumpled look. Iron while damp if desired.
As this is a handmade product, each piece holds unique characteristics.
